Syllabus requirements for GSCE/A'level regarding animal rights:- use and abuse of laboratory animals, genetic modification of animals.
In 2002 the UK Government was reported as drawing up a 'Bill of Rights' for animals in an effort to ensure minimum standards of care for pets and other captive animals. This is discussed in the following article:
